Last Thursday, 30 people from the Hollywood community came together to celebrate and honor U.S. veterans during a Veteren’s Day Ceremony at SBHS.
The ceremony took place at SBHS in the big gym, where we honor the veterans who serve in the military.
We escorted veterans in the into media center where they were treated with a traditional eggs, bacon, and hash brown breakfast. Once they were done eating, one veterans was grateful and said, “Thank you for the breakfast. Great way to start off my day.” Another veteran also said “Breakfast was amazing, Thank you.”
Next, we escorted the veterans to big gym where the ceremony would be hosted. We started off with color guard presenting the colors followed by the pledge of alliance and then the national anthem will be sang by one of our lovely cadets C/CPT Claire Clemons.
One of our instructors said “We were surprised of how many people from the community showed up” and I said “Yeah, this a very special moments for the veterans.”
We reached out to a couple clubs that work with us in the past and we thought it would’ve been a nice idea if we invited them to the ceremony. So we reach out to “Journalism” which they took pictures of the event. “We thanked them for that”.
This event was to commemorate, remember and thank our veterans for their service.
We also did a wreath ceremony of all the services to thank each branch of the military which included the Army, Marines, Navy, and Coast guard.
Next, Taps was play by one of the marching band members, “Brandon Lopez” he said “he was nervous because it was his first trim playing in front of a big crowed and everyone was looking at him. But he did great he did awesome everybody loved it he did amazing.
Let this be seen as a sign in remembrance of all the men and women who have selflessly fought to protect our nation.
On behalf of South Broward High School, and our JROTC Program we are honored to present Veterans with a small token of appreciation for your dedication and service to our nation.
Finally to conclude the ceremony, thank you to our honorable Veterans for coming out to celebrate Veterans Day with the Bulldawg Battalion here at South Broward High School. We appreciate your service and once again thank you for everything.
