Volleyball Girls Hang Up Their Uniforms

It is time for the girls of the SBHS volleyball team to say farewell to their coach. The season has ended and all that’s left are the bonds between the girls.

Leonel Jimenez, the girls trusty coach, was there the whole time to support them. “It was a young team so there was a lot to work on to become a solid team,” says Jimenez.

During last season, the team trained two hours every day practicing basic skills and perfecting teamwork. Sounds like torture doesn’t it? The girls, however always found a way to have fun.

Kayla Savoie, volleyball team member, went on to say, “We would change things up and make things new…instead of running we would do different drills like sumo squats, stretches, and shuffling.”

These long hours definitely paid off when it came to games. Even though the games were hard, they managed to win 4 out of the nine games played this season!

No matter how many hours they spent or how much sweat was dripped, nothing could strip the girls of their enjoyment.

Harolyn Maldonado, another team member, says “We always had fun.”
