South Broward’s Drama Club is one of the most competitive and outstanding clubs at the school. The drama club is directed by Ms. Spears, she is in charge of all events and choosing the members. Ms. Spears has been leading the club for a couple of years now, every year she does her best to make improvements from her previous years of leading. The club has grown really close with her over the years and they all look up to her.

One of the most talented and outstanding members of the club. Tatiana Balan is a Junior at South Broward who has been a part of the Drama club since her freshman year. She has been acting since 6th grade where she performed for the first time ever as The Little Mermaid. She hopes to grow as an actress, singer, performer and person. Balan shared with us what it’s like to be a part of a club that feels like a family. “Drama club helps you find your identity and expand your knowledge of the arts. You are free to express yourself, you are challenged and it teaches you to work hard and work well with others. At times it can be difficult and people can be stressed, as with anything. But in the end we always come together as one to make it happen” says Balan. As to upcoming events and performances the drama club is now preparing for a one act that that will take place at a competition in about a month from now, and again for districts in late December. A one-act play is a play that has only one act, unlike others that occur over several acts. One-act plays may consist of one or more scenes. If they succeed in their performances they will make their way to states. At meetings they usually discuss the goals for the week, certain things that they need to get done such as payment deadlines and pieces that need to be rehearsed. Overall if you have an interest in the Arts and Drama, the Drama Club is the club for you and you will not regret joining.
