Earth Day : Giving Back to Mother Nature
May 18, 2021
On Thursday, April 22, South Broward High School celebrated Earth Day through various events both on and off campus.
Early Thursday morning, the preschoolers in Little Broward showed appreciation and gratitude for the environment by planting flowers, picking up trash, and writing messages on the sidewalk with chalk for mother nature.
Michael Rodgers, a sophomore in the Early Childhood class at SBHS, said “It was an amazing day. I can’t wait until next year for more people to show out. It was a great experience not only for us but for the children as well.”
Mr. March, the Social studies teacher and host of this school sponsored event said, “It is always such a joy to celebrate Earth and bring awareness about how we can better take care of Earth”.
Off campus, SBHS JROTC members of the Bulldog Battalion contributed to Earth Day by doing their annual Beach Cleanup. Twelve of the cadets met at Hollywood Beach on the following day and competed to see how much trash they could all pick up. All together 70 pounds of trash was collected.
