Jessica Acosta is someone that you might see around campus pretty often. She’s one of South Broward’s many school security guards, and she’s been here full-time for two years. Before that, she was a floater, meaning she worked at different schools trying to gain experience.
Over time, she has grown to love the school more and more.
“The student population at SBHS is what makes the school great.” said Acosta.
Acosta was born in Venezuela and moved to the U.S in 2007. She studied at SBHS her senior year, where she had to learn English. Because she didn’t attend college, she began working as a school security guard, a job that she loves.
“I’m here because I care about the kids.” she says.
In the future, Acosta plans to advance in her career as a security guard and rise up the ranks, as well a continuing to keep everyone at SBHS safe and happy.
