Nina Petrovich is a senior and a cheerleader at South Broward. The 17-year-old is excited for the quickly approaching Homecoming dance, however she feels bittersweet.
“It’s kind of sad because it’s my last one [homecoming],” she said.
Petrovich finds great joy in spreading school spirit, loving the community that comes with cheering and being involved in school events. Being around people she loves is very important for the senior, as being alone is her greatest fear.
“I need to know there’s someone around me I trust in case something happens,” she said.
The senior has already started applying to colleges. With the stress of moving away soon as she starts a new chapter in her life, Petrovich uses music and her family to pick her up when she’s feeling down.
“Blasting music in my room and annoying my sister makes me happy,” said the 17-year-old.
