Skylar Blanco is a junior at SBHS and forward on the girls’ soccer team. She is also a member of a club team in Miami as well. Her position as forward means she is the one to score most goals.
Skylar has been playing soccer for seven years and hopes to keep pursuing it as she gets older.
“It has been the best seven years of my life and I enjoy every minute of it,” said Skylar.
Blanco is very professional and hardworking but it was hard coaching her because she didn’t have a lot of confidence in herself as a player. Her coach, Mr. Brevil, has high hopes for Blanco.
“She has everything I’m looking for in a player such as self motivation, discipline, and can play multiple positions,” said Brevil.
She works well with other teammates because she is very supportive to her team and always shows kindness. Her teammates Bella and Izzy feel she is a good player because she is fast, has nice crosses and is good at getting shots on fast breaks.
“Her accuracy and her shot power got better throughout the years,” said Izzy.
She has improved a lot because she became more confident in herself and She has been through hardships like last year when they lost districts. It was really hard because they worked really hard and deserved to win.
“Even though we lose sometimes I’m proud that I get to participate in this team,” said Skylar.
