Saarah Juman-Welch is a 17 year old Junior at SBHS.
Born in Indiana, Juman-Welch moved to Florida at the age of four, first living in Davie, then coming to Hollywood. Her hobby since sixth grade has been sports photography, and thanks to journalism, she has expanded to nature photography.
“I never struggled with photography; it just comes naturally,” said Juman-Welch.
Despite this, Juman-Welch still chose journalism in hopes of improving her photography skills.
Outside of photography, Juman-Welch enjoys baking for her friends and family. Her favorite desserts to make are baklava and brownies.
“When I’m in the kitchen, I feel like I can just let go and make what my heart desires,” said Juman-Welch.
Her goals for the year are to save money to buy her own camera and win at least one All-State award at the FSPA State Convention.
“This year, I hope we can attend the actual state convention and not just submit our entries online,” stated Juman-Welch.
