Abbey Ortiz

Abbey Ortiz, 17, is an 11th grader attending South Broward High School. She chose Journalism from a series of choices after the necessary schedule change of the class that was replaced. She always had a way with words and has mostly excelled in writing, which will likely aid her in this course.

Abbey enjoys natural beauty such as rainy days, a walk in the gloomy park, or a sunny day on the beach. Nature continues to be a place of peace for her as she attempts to handle life healthily. Abbey is an utter music fanatic and will jump at the chance to hear a new recommended artist. "Music soothes a certain itch in my brain," she said. She and her older sister are feline worshipers watching over six different cats, and tending to any meow in need. Abbey reminds society that cats are a "literal animal form of therapy," and more people should rescue them to experience this.

She has had many issues with work, however, her current job is the most enjoyable so far. Working as a hostess has its perks, but when the restaurant is busy it's a different world. Abbey likes to think of it as a lesson for when she's older to handle more extensive situations, but she is positive she won't be doing it for this pay wage.

Abbey aspires to get better academic grades this year than last. Exceeding in school is a great feeling for her, and she is more prepared this year as she switches to the appropriate classes for her schedule. She somewhat struggles in working with teams however this year seems to include many team projects so she will possibly grasp something from that.

Abbey is not exactly sure what her plan is after she graduates, but she knows there are always people there to help guide her through the rough.
