Elijah Yates, 14, is a freshman at South Broward High School who plays football. He has been playing football since he was around 8. He stopped playing when COVID hit, but has started playing again.
"I grew up in Miami Gardens and Hollywood," said the freshman. "I was back and forth a lot."
Yates plays O-line and D-line for Little River Saints.
"It's my first year playing for Little River. I love my team and coaches," said Yates.
He started playing football because a lot of people in his family play, and he thinks it's a great way to get a scholarship and get in shape.
As well as being a athlete, he tries to stay on top of his work. Although Yates performs well during school, he sometimes stresses himself out because of tests and quizzes. He switched into journalism because he thought it would be cool.
