Laura Bassette is a 14-year-old student at South Broward High School who loves photography and writing.
She joined journalism because she’s expecting to take a lot of photos and write meaningful stories that will impact people in the SBHS community.
A complete book worm, she's passionate about books and absolutely needs to have a book with her everywhere she goes. She has many hobbies, such as playing volleyball, drawing, playing the piano, and listening to classical music. Some of her favorite composers include Claude Debussy, Camille Saint-Saens, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Igor Stravinsky.
Bassette has big expectations for her future, but doesn’t know what she wants to do yet. She expects big things from herself because role models like her parents and grandparents push her to do her best in life.
A few subjects she likes are science, math, and reading. When she gets home, she likes spending time with her little brother, reading, and watching Netflix.
Bassette likes socializing a lot and likes having friends.
"Meeting new people opens many doors for me. It makes connections and makes friendships that last," she said.
