Maite Garrido is a 14-year-old freshman at SBHS who has lived in Florida since she was four years old. She has been figure skating since she was six, and plays soccer and dances hip hop as well.
She has been doing figure skating for 8 years. She wants to join the theater but doesn't want to have the main role. Although Garrido doesn't mind speaking in front of large crowds, she often thinks she's not speaking proper English, so she would rather not speak in front of hundreds of people.
“I would rather be backstage helping with costumes or makeup than up on the stage,” said Garrido.
She also enjoys reading and wants to study architecture at Oxford University when she is older. One of the main reasons she wants to go there is because the movie Harry Potter was originally filmed there.
“Of course also because they have a great academic program,” she said.
