Maria Capellan, who goes by Izzy, is a freshman at SBHS. She did not choose journalism as an elective, but she is glad she is in it, and thinks it is fascinating. Capellan grew up in Hollywood, Florida and has lived in the same place since she was one-year-old.
One of her favorite things to eat is cookies because, "they are simple, but delicious." Her hobbies include playing sports, baking, cooking, and playing video games with friends. She enjoys traveling and has gone to several countries and states in and out of the U.S.
Capellan likes being a student overall but gets stressed trying to meet the high expectations of her. She thinks peoples first impression of her is that she's mean and obnoxious, but she is the opposite of both. Capellan looks up to Spider-Man since he loves helping people out of the goodness of his heart. She offers this advice, "do what you like no matter what people think," said Capellan.
