Michael Tafari Smith is a 16-year-old Junior at South Broward High. He joined journalism on a whim, a choice he does not regret.
“I did it to gain more experience in an area I have never touched upon,” said Smith.
Smith was born and raised in Montego Bay Jamaica for most of his life. He permanently moved to Florida in September of 2020 to start school a month later at South Broward.
‘My greatest challenges since coming here would be getting familiarized with the American school system,” said Smith.
Smith spends much of his free time playing video games, namely Elden Ring.
“The hardest thing about being a student at South Broward High for me is asking questions on things I don't know due to the fact I am not a very social person," said Smith when asked about what's his hardest challenge at South Broward. When asked what words he lived by he responded ‘never apologize for working hard.’
