Thiago Barrios is a SBHS junior who was born and raised in Hallandale, FL.
“I’ve been in the same little house for 16 years,” said Barrios.
Barrios likes to participate in many clubs outside of school; he is in Math Honors Society, Chinese Honors Society, jazz band, and also marching band (he plays drums and percussion). He loves talking about all types of arts like literature, music, and engineering. He says he could talk about those topics for hours on end. Barrios wants to be a top mechanical engineer.
“I want to work for top companies and be good at what I do,” said Barrios.
Barrios also loves to play baseball. He started since he was 4; he mainly played right field. He stopped playing when he was around 6 to 7 years old but then got back when he was 11 to 12 years old. He’s currently playing for South Broward’s baseball team; he plays for both JV and Varsity. Barrios loves saying
“How can you not be romantic about baseball?” asked Barrios.
Barrios biggest inspiration is his dad; he will never forget what he taught him. Because of his dad, one of Barrios’s biggest fears is failing to live. To him, failing to live is not being able to fulfill his happiness. Barrios lives by the saying.
“Life isn’t about making money; it’s about making memories. There’s wealth in life that money could never buy. I want to be happy no matter if I’m poor or rich.” said Barrios.
