Last week, South Broward took their first step on the road to states, defeating a clearly inferior West Broward team 63-15 in their first playoff game.

The dominant performance by the Bulldogs’ defense set up many fast break opportunities that the team took full advantage of all game long. The win was just one of many in a storybook season for a young squad, hungry to prove themselves.

Despite their heartbreaking loss to a stacked Dillard team, South Broward came out with a renewed focus and outworked West Broward on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Bulldogs’ Head Coach Sharlene Ferguson has ingrained a ‘bounce back’ mentality for the team.

“Our losses have pushed us to stay focused and cherish every possession,” said Ferguson. “Limiting mistakes is the key to winning districts.”

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 19-4 on the season and will play in the district championship game against Flanagan on Friday, February 4 at 7:00 pm. South Broward looks to sweep the Falcons and advance to Regionals for the first time since 2017.
