Ariela Brody is a 15-year-old freshman at SBHS who moved from Miami Beach to Hollywood last year. She is eager to meet new people and make connections in her new environment.
“The transition to a new place has been difficult, but, so far, the students and teachers have been very kind and welcoming,” said the freshman, “It won’t take long until I find my people.”
For the past three years, Brody was the Editor-in Chief of the RKBBH K-8 newspaper. Having an executive role and sharing news drew her to the Journalism class. She was recently elected as secretary of the Journalism Club, as well.
Along with regularly reading novels, Brody consistently reads the news every morning.
“I strive to always be informed on current events,” she said.
Brody considers math and science her academic strengths; however, writing articles has always interested her. Her pastimes include playing with her four dogs, crocheting, reading, biking, and swimming, which she has been doing for the past four years. Brody recently joined the SBHS swim team and is thrilled to get back in shape after the summer break.
She says her mom is her main role model in life because of her strength and intelligence.
“My mom is a physician who worked her way through years of school, so she is the definition of where hard work can get you,” said the freshman.
Brody is passionate about researching different neurological diseases and hopes to pursue a medical career.
“I want to help people in the future,” said Brody.
